5 out of 5 stars Awesome badge polish.   June 15, 2010

I use this to polish my badge (mine is of the brass or gold colored variety, haven't tried it on a silver badge)....it blows away any of the other polishes that others use...I could just about blind somebody in the right light. Tactical badge polish, maybe?

3 out of 5 stars Simichrome   May 24, 2010

I'm not sure whether it is better than other chrome cleaners or polishers. I'm not returning it and will continue to use it. I was hoping for a more dramatic difference. The shipping service and all was right on time, which I really appreciated.

5 out of 5 stars Shine ON   April 21, 2010

My mandolin's builder recommended this polish. I used Simichrome on my nickel plated Rigel Mandolin Tail Piece. Mind you it hadn't really shined for years. No matter what I used I could never get back to the sparkle underneath . I was thinking of spending upwards of $100 for a new tailpiece. It shines now, better than when I got the mandolin new. I had to use several coats & wipes but it really shines now.

I also used it on my chrome plated Johnson Tricone resonator guitar. It was bad enough that it looked like someone had lost his lunch on it. After several coats and polishes I can use it as a mirror.

You'll need plenty of clean rags, because they turn black fast. And it's called polish because you need a lot of elbow grease. You work but so does Simichrome.

Be very careful not to get any Simichrome on the instrument's finish or if you do wipe off carefully and quickly. If not careful you could damage a nitrocellulose finish. Not sure about urethane finish, but would advise great care. Cover the finish and go slowly. Also before you use on any vintage instrument check with an expert about lowering the value by cleaning off the "patina."

5 out of 5 stars Why didn't I think of this before!!   March 13, 2010

A number of few years ago, I managed to destroy the appearance of the pedals on my upright piano by using a 'home brew' brass polish (see uploaded images.) Back before I 'ruined' the piano pedals, my brother used to use this polish to keep the pedals looking great. A few days ago Amazon selected Simichrome as a product that I might be interested in. Previously, I hadn't considered that all I needed to rectify my mistake with the piano pedals was to use the Simichrome (and some elbow grease, of course.) Anyway, this is a great product (although I have only experience polishing brass.) Don't use too much (a little goes a long way), and have an adequate supply of clean soft cloths to polish and buff. It's pretty amazing what a great job it did on my piano pedals!

This product is very good. It is a polish that works very well. It is not abbrasive and does not " fix " metal. It is intended for metal that is dirty or tarnished. I recommend this metal polish.
